This Privacy Policy of University Furnishings, L.P. dba The Living Company (the “Company”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) governs the manner in which the Company’s website collects, uses, maintains and discloses information collected from users (each, a ‘User’) of the website (‘Site’). This privacy policy applies to the Site and all products and services offered by the Company. By using the Site, each User is consenting to the practices described in this Privacy&bsp;Policy.
Personal identification information
We may collect personal identification information from Users in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when Users visit our Site, register on the Site, subscribe to the newsletter, purchase products on the Site, and in connection with other activities, services, features or resources we make available on our Site. Users may be asked for, as appropriate, an email address. Users may, however, visit our Site anonymously. We will collect personal identification information from Users only if they voluntarily submit such information to us. Users can always refuse to supply personal identification information, except that such refusal may prevent them from engaging in certain Site related activities.
Non-personal identification information
We may collect non-personal identification information about Users whenever they interact with our Site. Non-personal identification information may include the browser name, the type of computer and technical information about Users’ means of connection to our Site, such as the operating system and the Internet service providers utilized and other similar information.
Web browser cookies
Our Site may use ‘cookies’ and other unique identifiers to enhance the User experience. A User’s web browser places cookies on their hard drive for record-keeping purposes and sometimes to track information about them. A User may choose to set their web browser to refuse cookies, or to alert a User when cookies are being sent. If they do so, note that some parts of the Site may not function properly.
How we use collected information
The Company may collect and use Users’ personal information for the following purposes:
- To facilitate business transaction services with Business Partners
- “Business Partner” means any third party with whom we have a business relationship to assist us with: providing a User with our products or services, processing a User’s payments, tailoring content to a User’s interests, sending a User information or offers or performing other functions to support our relationship with a User.
- To improve customer service
- Information a User provides helps us respond to a User’s customer service requests and support needs more efficiently.
- To personalize User experience
- We may use information in the aggregate to understand how our Users as a group use the services and resources provided on our Site.
- To send periodic emails
- We may use the email address to send User information and updates pertaining to their order. It may also be used to respond to their inquiries, questions, and/or other requests. If a User decides to opt-in to our mailing list, they will receive emails that may include Company news, updates, related product or service information, etc. If at any time the User would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, we include detailed unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of each email or User may contact us via our Site.
How we protect your information
We adopt certain data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to seek to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of Users’ personal information, username, password, transaction information and data stored on our Site. We do not knowingly collect information from or regarding minors. The Site is not intentionally directed to, or intended for use by, children under the age of 18. The Company does not intend for minors to use or submit any information through the Site or its services. If a child under 18 submits information through any part of the services on the Site, and we become aware that the person submitting the information is a minor, we will attempt to delete this information promptly.
Sharing your personal information
We do not sell, trade, or rent Users’ personal identification information to any Business Partners as defined under applicable privacy laws (for example, the California Consumer Protection Act), except for trusted third parties who assist us in operating our Site, conducting our business, or servicing Users, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We do purchase/rent/lease e-mail lists for which we do not have direct access to the addresses and therefore are unable to remove a User from the e-mail communication if the User has previously unsubscribed from receiving communications. We rely on the fact that a User gave permission to the owner of the purchased/rented/leased e-mail list and therefore we are in compliance with this Privacy Statement.
We contract with vendors to provide services related to the Site and may share personal identification information with such vendors to provide products or services to Users or to help maintain the Site. We may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal identification information regarding visitors and Users with our Business Partners, trusted affiliates and advertisers for the purposes outlined above. We may disclose Personal identification information when (1) required by law or to respond to legal process or lawful requests, including from law enforcement; (2) when we believe it is necessary to prevent, investigate, or address (a) possible illegal activities, including fraud, (b) violation of our Terms of Use, (c) violation of this Privacy Policy, or (d) threats to the physical safety of any person; or (3) to protect our rights or property.
In the event the Company is considering a sale of its business, in its entirety or a component thereof, or substantially all its assets are acquired, or a portion thereof, personal and non-personal identification information may be one of the transferred assets, and may therefore be used by a third-party acquirer in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Such use by a third party may include review of personal identification information, using such information to contact Users either before or after such a transfer or sale, use or transfer of non-personal information before or after such a transfer or sale, or for other purposes.

These sites and services may have their own privacy policies and customer service policies. Browsing and interaction on any other website, including websites which have a link to our Site, is subject to that website’s own terms and policies.
